For many of us, getting healthy by eating healthier is a top priority. And that means cutting sweets, right? Fortunately, not!
With Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit, you can enjoy the benefits of low-cal, nutrient-rich desserts that are healthy, sweet — and fun. And there are few desserts more fun than a sorbet. But first . . .
What Is a Sorbet?
A sorbet is a frozen dessert with no dairy content, similar to Italian ice. Though there may be other flavorings used such as honey or non-dairy almond milk, a sorbet is typically made with just two main ingredients: fruit (usually pureed) and sugar that is churned, much like butter.
Sorbets look a lot like ice cream, making it the perfect solution for parents with kids! Unlike ice cream, however, sorbet doesn’t have air whipped into it. This absence of air acts to increase the sorbet’s density, giving it a far greater flavor-to-taste-bud ratio. For many, sorbet also serves as a low-fat healthy alternative to ice cream.
The sorbet is also a versatile dessert. That, along with their low-fat nature, makes it perfect to use with Zespri Kiwifruit.
Why Kiwifruit Sorbets?
Kiwifruit are not only great sources of vitamin C, potassium, and filled with antioxidants that boost eye health, they also have playful, beautiful green and yellow hues that can turn any dessert recipe fun and colorful.
But for our recipes, the main reason for using Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit for the sorbet is because they have a naturally sweet, tropical flavor. So while most sorbets add sugar, our sorbet recipes use the natural sweetness of the kiwifruit.
This makes sorbet made with kiwifruit a healthy choice for a frozen treat.
Just how easy is sorbet to make?
